Ballybeg from the Irish Baile Beag meaning Little Town dates back to the seventeenth century. Given the marquee it is fitting that the house was home of the Fossett family of circus fame. Allegedly the family were convinced the main house was haunted and consequently levelled it and built the existing house in 1948.
